The plastic enclosure strap on configuration has a sensor potted to the back side of a copper plate and a foam pad creates compression when the strap worm drive is tightened. The final result is a good thermal transfer with pipes that range from 2 to 5" in diameter. Extra straps can be purchased for $1 and will be listed as an additional part number (2-5" HOSE CLAMP).  Please note that the plastic enclosure is rated to 140 degrees F.
